Where is STYLE-UP Driving School located?

We are conveniently located in Kajiado county in Ongata-Rongai town near the Uchumi supermarket in the outskirts of Nairobi city in Kenya. Our offices are located on the first floor of the Maasai Mall along the Lang'ata road in Rongai. You may use our private entrance around back!

What happens if my permit is lost, stolen or damaged?

It is important to know that an original permit is required while practice driving and on the day of your road test! If your permit was lost or stolen, we suggest you contact your local police department to report it to avoid someone else using it and contact your driving school in order to get a replacement. If it is damaged in any way, you will need a duplicate and we will be happy to help you with the paperwork. A 16 year old must get a duplicate from their driving school.

How does the insurance work?

Good question! During your driving lessons you are fully insured with our driving school under our policy, which is the maximum allowed! Alter completing 6 hours we give all students, teens and adults, and insurance discount certificate to present to your insurance company. Contact your provider on what discounts will apply to you while you have a permit and then once you receive your license.

What type of car is acceptable for my road test?

The break must be accessible for the tester to reach in case of an emergency. If you have a console in between the two front seats, there must be an emergency break. If there is no console, the examiner must feet he/she is able to reach the break or you will be rejected. It is their discretion. You cannot use a rental car. Remember to bring proper insurance and registration of the vehicle you are using. Automatic or stick shift is allowed. The student must have the red decals on their license plate and 6 points of identification.

How are your instructors trained and certified?

All of our instructors are trained by the owner of the school who happens to be a state certified driver education teacher with master’s credits in driver education. All instructors are finger printed and pass 3 exams that are issued by the ministry of transport in Nairobi. Once they are cleared and certified by the government, the real training begins.

They spend 2 weeks observing the owner while he is teaching. Then they are given another test by our school. This test includes their technique, and the way they present the lesson to the student. Once we feel they are able to teach a lesson, they are given students and observed by the owner or manager for another 2 weeks.

If all goes well, they are given a teaching vehicle and a schedule of students. Instructors are re-certified by our office every year and also attend continuing education course in driver education just like high school driver education teachers. We also attend seminars on how to teach students with slightly poor eye sights as well as the physically challanged
