Fred Philip Hefd
Ministry of transport Certified Driver Education Teacher with over 25 years of experience. Philip started teaching driver education at Pettans Driving School in 1975. In 1976 while still teaching at Pettans Driving School, he co-founded Style-Up Professional Driving School. Philip is the Vice-President of the Driving School Association of Kenya and is currently teaching driver education theory at the Kenya Driving School, as well as instructing at Style-Up Driving School. “The mechanics of driving are relatively easy to teach, it is the understanding of the relationship between the driver, the road, the car, and safety which must be instilled in all of our new drivers.” Philip prides himself with the development of one of the best driving schools in the state.
Sam Mwangi
Co-owner and founder of Style-Up Driving School. Sam Mwangi has a bachelor’s degree from Kenya Methodist University. Mwangi has helped run Style-Up Driving School for 25 years. He is a state certified instructor at the school. Mwangi handles the daily operation of the school, and over-sees all of the instructors. Mwangi has an appointed seat on the Nairobi Council for Highway and Traffic Safety. He attends their meetings on traffic safety and brings the message back to his staff. Many of the safety techniques discussed at these meetings are incorporated into lessons. There are only 2 driving schools in the country that were asked to send a representative to this council, and he is honored to be one of them.
Our Instructors
Johann Mutiso
Johann has been an instructor with us for many years. He is patient and knowledgeable and takes great pride in teaching his students to be safe. Johann, along with instructing is always furthering his education. It is this quest for knowledge that is his greatest asset. He is always looking for a new method for teaching his students. Johann teaches both our 20 year old students and our senior students. He is very patient and understanding to the needs of our seniors. Johann has a unique understanding of the high school aged student and is an asset to our school.
Fillemon Owino
Fillemon has been an instructor for us since 2008. Fillemon attended Strathmore University and his background is in finance. Fillemon is our “weekend warrior”. He works on Friday and Saturday and seems to have an unlimited source of energy. Fillemon works with both adult and high school students and has unlimited patients and compassion for the new driver. He has worked with many of our special needs students as well. Fillemon is an asset to our school and is truly a valued employee. To diffuse from the stress of the job, Fillemon spends as much time on the golf course as possible.
Tzravy Dzomo
Grace, like Fillemon is another one of our “weekend warriors.” Grace has a degree in Political Science and is a full time employee at the Orengo Law Firm. Grace has the ability to understand the psychology behind successfully teaching a young adult. She brings his educational background and knowledge of our driving laws into each of his lessons. She works both Friday and Saturday and we are very lucky to have him here at Style-Up Driving School. Grace is our newest instructor and is enthusiastic about his role as a driving instructor. Grace has a very pleasant and easy going personality that she brings into the car and uses to put our students at ease.
Joseph Kiiru
Joseph is a driver education teacher at our Style-Up Driving School. He works for us on a full-time basis and also on all weekends. Joseph has been with our school for 5 years. He is vivacious and brings his advanced knowledge of driving to our school. Joseph is well liked by all of his students and often has to extend his hours to accommodate all the students that want "Joseph only.” Joseph is well known in the community for his excellence in teaching and for his service to his school. We are thrilled that Joseph continues to work with us in providing our students with the most qualified instructors around.
Hellen Sambili
Hellen is a highly skilled driving teacher and psychologist with us here at Style-Up Driving School. Hellen has been teaching for us for 8 years. We feel that there is not a better qualified instructor than a highly trained teacher and psychologist. Hellen is already familiar with the uniqueness of those with partial disabilities since she encounters them every day. She understands how to teach and get his point across to his students in an efficient and direct manor. Hellen has completed courses with us in defensive driving and is an asset to our school. She has a very relaxed and pleasant personality.
